Maureen Rose Muth

March 7, 1938 — March 18, 2015

Maureen Rose Muth, 77, has entered Heavens Gates on March 18, 2015. She was born to the late Charles and Susan Whiston in London, England on March 7, 1938. Growing up in England during World War II, Maureen didn’t experience what we would call a normal childhood. She traveled on trains to many different places, sometimes having to leave members of her family behind. At a very early age the family’s house was hit by a bomb and they had to find underground metal shelters to keep them safe. Food and clothing was scarce and the only thing that allowed her to sleep was her mother’s voice as she sang her to sleep. Yet while she was surrounded by this much sadness, she never allowed any of it to affect the great woman she was about to become. At age 12 Maureen took singing and dance classes which landed her a lead role in the pantomime “Babes in the Woods.” In 1953 at age 16, she got her first job at the Samuel Montagu bank in London. She had six months of intense training where she had to learn every account holders name in both “English and Foreign,” as well as balance all the daily sheets to the penny. Maureen spent the next 6 years in the banking industry while putting herself through college. Working full time and going to school every evening allowed her to get degrees in Math, English Literature, English Grammar and Shorthand. She got teaching certificates in Shorthand, Typing and Business. Working full time in an office and teaching in the evenings as well as Saturday mornings kept her extremely busy. Maureen’s strong will, work ethic and ability to see a beautiful future through dark gray clouds is what made her so special. To quote her Memoir she wrote for her grandchildren, “As you go through life please enjoy every day. Bad things will happen, rise above them.” She will be greatly missed by her friends and family, and her story shall never be forgotten. Maureen is also preceded in death by her Husband, Mike Muth, Brother, George and her sister Edie. She is survived by her beloved only Daughter, Susan Muth of McIntosh, New Mexico and her precious grandchildren, Lonnie Ray, Shawn, Brian Michael and Brianna Rose. A Rosary is to be recited on Thursday April 30, 2015 at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, New Mexico at 10:00 A.M. with the Celebration of Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M... Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. where Maureen will once again be reunited with her beloved soul mate, Mike.
