GORDEN L. McMATH, 91, of Mountainair, New Mexico peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Gorden was born March 13, 1923, in Mountainair, NM to William P. and Eva Lee (Lassiter) McMath. Gorden was a lifelong resident of Torrance County. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Mountainair. Gorden was a WWII Army/Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Hump Pilots Association. He married his loving wife of 68 years, Emma Lou Williams, on August 24, 1946 in Torreon, NM. They were blessed with four sons and one daughter. Mr. McMath was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers; Ellis McMath who died in WWII; Bill McMath of Graham, TX; Clinton Leon (Jack) McMath of Carlsbad, NM; sister Velma Spangler. He is survived by his wife Emma Lou (Biddie) McMath of their home in Mountainair, NM; sons Weldon McMath of Cave Creek, Arizona, Eldon McMath of Los Alamos, NM, Norman McMath of Guthrie, OK, and Gene McMath of Tulsa, OK; daughter Donna Lou Hibner of Walla Walla Wash; brother Charles McMath of Elephant Butte, NM; sister Marilyn Coburn of Estancia, NM; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grand-children and 6 great-great grand-children. There will be a viewing on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 6-8 p.m at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM. Burial will be on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Mountainair Cemetery at 10:00am followed by a Celebration Memorial Service at 11:00am at the First Assembly of God Church in Mountainair, NM with Pastor McClain and Rev. Norman Lindsey officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
