JOHNNIE RUTH HILL, 95, of Edgewood, NM passed away at her home on Sunday, October 19, 2014. Ruth was born October 4, 1919 in Parsons, Tennessee to Thadus and Nora (Morgan) Hill. Ruth was a great cook, opening several restaurants in Edgewood and worked at Deans Truck Stop and Comers Truck Stop before working for Furrs Cafeteria in Albuquerque. She worked there for twelve years before retiring. Ruth was a beautiful seamstress. She will be remembered for her beautiful crocheted bed spreads made for each grandchild and great-grandchild and beautiful quilts, dresses, and western shirts. Ruth was a helping hand of kindness for all. Ruth was a charter member of the Edgewood Baptist Church where she was a member for 54 years and the First Baptist of Moriarty for 20 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Thadeus Hill and mother Nora Morgan Hill; five sisters; 2 brothers; her loving husband of 49 years, Arthur Hill; and best friend George Bassett. She is survived by daughter Phyllis Ellis and husband Michael of Edgewood, NM; son Loran Hill and his wife Lorraine of Edgewood, NM; grandchildren David Hill and wife Frances of Albuquerque, NM, Lori Chavez and husband Florian of Edgewood, James Loran Hill and wife Cristy of Clovis, NM; Shannon Ellis and wife Andria Michal Ellis all of Edgewood; eight great-grandchildren Kyler Brewer-Hill, Sydni Hill, Pacer Hill, Loriann Chavez, Florian Chavez, Paige Hill, Jacob Ellis and Cody Ellis; and a great-great grandson Zachary Hill, as well as many nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing from 9:00 to 10:00am on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Edgewood followed by the service at 10:00am with Pastor Brian Piette officiating. Casket escorts will be Kyler Brewer-Hill, Florian Chavez III, Pacer Hill, Sydni Hill, Loriann Chavez, and Paige Hill. Honorary casket escorts will be Pete Muller, Tommy Muller, Mr. Woods, Don King, Joe King, Wayne Hill, Max Hill, Ralph Hill, Othel Hensley and JoAnn Willison. Burial will be at the Mountain Valley Cemetery in Edgewood. NM.
