Maria Dolores "Lola" Romero

MARIA DOLORES “LOLA” ROMERO, 98, of Mountainair, New Mexico peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, October 3, 2014. Lola was born August 6, 1916 in Punta de Agua, New Mexico to Manuel and Jesusita (Lopez) Otero. She was a lifelong resident of Torrance County. She married Jose Jesus Romero on December 1, 1951. Lola was a devoted Catholic, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Sacred Heart League, and the Holy Eucharist League. Lola was loved by all and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Jesusita Otero; husband Jose Jesus Romero; son Ernest Romero; grandsons Albert and Celso Quintana; great-grand-daughter Consuelo Quintana; brothers Cruz Otero and his wife Lenior, Benny Otero, Edwardo Otero and his wife Amaliat and Boliaz Otero and his wife Trinidad; sisters Teresa, Erlinda Alderete and her husband Joe and Josefita Terry and her husband. Lola is survived by her son Manuel Romero and his wife Reina of Mountainair; daughter Prescilla R. Quintana of Mountainair; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Rosary recited on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 7:00pm at Nuestra Senora de los Dolores Catholic Church in Manzano, NM. The Mass of Resurrection will be on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11:00am also at Nuestra Senora de los Dolores Catholic Church in Manzano with Rev. Fr. Sotero Sena officiating. Pallbearers will be Celso Garcia, Albert Chavez, Francisco Zamora, Romeo Quintana, Luke Lopez, Lucas Lopez and Patrick Padilla. Honorary pallbearer will be Florencio Alderete. Burial will follow at Nuestra Senora de los Dolores Cemetery in Manzano, NM.
