Manuel A. Chavez

September 13, 1928 — July 5, 2014

MANUEL A. CHAVEZ, born on September 13, 1928, peacefully passed away on July 5th. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Juanito and Maria Chavez; and sisters Ramona Montoya and Nestora Baca. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Anna Chavez, 7 children: Manuel Chavez Jr., Gloria Ortega and husband Mark, Charles Chavez and girlfriend Trish, Theresa Chavez, Theodore and wife Carmen, Antoinette Sisneros and husband Philip, and Leo Chavez and girlfriend Susan; 8 grandchildren: Estevan Sisneros and wife Renee, Vicente Sisneros and wife Candice, Charles Clay Chavez, Casey Chavez, Leandra Chavez, Leo Chavez Jr., Anthony Chavez and Samuel Chavez; 4 great-grandchildren: Isabella, Abran, Enrique, and Katarina Sisneros; 5 brothers and 4 sisters and many loving nieces and nephews. He served in the Army for 4 years and worked for the US Forest Service for 31 years. He enjoyed his retirement and spending time with his family and in the mountains. He was a man of beautiful faith, he was a very involved parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Torreon. He was a member of the Saint Joseph Society, a lector and opened the church for many years. He will be greatly missed. There will be a Rosary recited at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Torreon, NM. The Mass of Resurrecion will follow at 11:00 with Rev. Fr. Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at the Torreon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Estevan Sisneros, Vicente Sisneros, Charles Clay Chavez, Casey Chavez, Leandra Marie Chavez and Leo Chavez Jr.
