Laverne Gage

LAVERNE GAGE, 80, of Corona, NM passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. LaVerne was born to Asa and Ellen Grumbles September 2, 1933 in Bee Cave, Texas. She lost her father at the age of 7 and lost her mother at the age of 14. She and her brother Dayton were then raised by her Uncle Elmer Grumbles and her aunt Ethel Grumbles. She graduated from Dripping Springs, Texas High School and married Edward Gage July 3, 1953. She spent her entire life doing and giving for others ahead of herself and was never heard to complain about anything. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Her interests included PTA, EMS, and 20 years Election Judge. She played softball till age 50, hunting, gardening and active in church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Ellen Grumbles and her infant brother Darrell. She is survived by her husband Edward Gage; sons Rick Gage and Brad Gage; brother Dayton Grumbles; grandson Joshua Gage; granddaughter Hannah Gage; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a Viewing Monday, May 12, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Capitan Church of Christ. The Service will be Tuesday, May 13th at 11:00am also at the Capitan Church of Christ with Les Earwood officiating. Burial will follow at Corona Cemetery at approximately 1:30pm. Pallbearers will be Richard Wesson, Andy Willingham, Wayland Hill, Walter Garfield, Don Harmon, and George Vasquez. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to charity of your choice.
