  JOSEPH C. KEEFE, 66, of Corona passed away on March 13. Joseph was born May 15, 1947 in Santa Fe to Sylvester J. and Katherine (Melby) Keefe. Joseph was a cherished husband, father, friend, respected colleague, warrior, photographer, reporter, police trainer and administrator. A backup you could count on. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. His most recent project was as volunteer coordinator at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. He was a voting member and chairman of the Partnership for a Healthy Torrance Community (PHTC); chairman of the PHTC Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force; a member of the Torrance County Local Emergency Planning Council; the Torrance County Archaeological Society and Sitewatch; American Legion; Rotary International; and a Founding Member of Law Enforcement Video Association. He was a radio disk jockey and television newsman. He served as a bodyguard to a Marine general, served on rescue missions, and was wounded under fire. He taught video production, and created the first police training video nationally on how police should handle domestic violence calls, and he developed some of the first training videos for law enforcement on how to handle child abuse calls. He produced the first live call-in television program for people affected by AIDS, called AIDS on the Line. He interviewed presidents, and was involved with reporting on Watergate and one of the Apollo missions. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Catherine Lynch Keefe of Corona, NM; sons Gregory Todd Keefe of California and Michael Dean Keefe of Florida; daughters Shannon Maria Lynch and her husband Eric Staats of Idaho and Lisa Lynch Jack and her husband Michael of Massachusetts; and four grandchildren. There will be a memorial service on March 19 at 11 a.m. at the Corona Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Memorial Fund “Joe Keefe Memorial Fund” c/o US Bank, P.O. Box 3535, Moriarty, NM 87035, 505-832-9662.
