RICARDO CHAVEZ, 74, of Torreon, New Mexico passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Sunday, February 09, 2014. Ricardo was born March 1, 1939 in Torreon, NM to Fidel and Lourdes Chavez. He married Socorro Sedillo, his loving wife of 56 years on April 26, 1958. Ricardo was a lifetime resident of Torreon, NM. He attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Torreon and was a member of La Socadid de San Jose. Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents and brother Natividad Chavez. He is survived by his wife Socorro of Torreon; sons Richard Anthony Chavez Jr. of Estancia, NM and Randy Joseph Chavez of Torreon, NM; daughters Denise Chavez-Parish of Albuquerque, NM, Nicole Charlson and her husband Brian of Estancia, NM and Julie Ann Chavez-Austin and fiancé Wade Abell of St. Anns, MO; brothers Leon Chavez and Imelda, Tercio Chavez, Leroy Chavez and Irene, Gilbert Chavez and Maxine, Fidel Chavez Jr. and Diana and George Chavez and Rita; sisters Concha Candelaria and Leroy, Rosemary Chavez, and Angela Valenzuela and Jose; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. There will a Rosary recited on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 10:30AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Torreon, NM with Rev. Fr. Sotolo Sena officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard Chavez III, Jacob Chavez, Joseph Chavez, Adam Gomez, Ted Chavez, and Ben Montoya. Honorary Pallbearers will be Corey Charlson, Leland Charlson, Santos Chavez, Santiago Chavez, Dion Chavez, Hunter Chavez and Nathaniel Chavez. Burial will follow the Mass at the Torreon Cemetery.
