JOE DOYAS HARDING, 86, of Moriarty, NM peacefully passed away on February 5, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. Joe was born October 24, 1927 in Cullman County, Alabama to John Thomas and Vernie Bell Harding. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Joe proudly served his country for fifteen years beginning with the US Merchant Marines serving on the SS Drury Bluff in WWII from 1944-1947. From 1947-1959, Joe served with the First Guided Missile Group “D” 5th Missile Battalion, Niki-Hercules as Sergeant First Class US Army. Joe was a member of the “Ancient and Honorable Order of the Oozlefinch,” Ooozlefinchling Gunner under Major General Robert Woods and Major General Sam C. Russell, Fort Bliss, Texas. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Olivia Grace Harding; his parents; and siblings, Wayne Harding, Ada Hargis, Venice Schultz, and Iva Mae Kornick. He is survived by his children John and his wife Loraine Harding, Richard and his wife Dollie Harding, and Barbara and her husband Tom Christian; grandchildren Lawrence and Sonia Harding, Lee and Christy Harding, JD Harding, Richard and Cristy Harding Jr., Angel and Joey Duran, Vernie Christian, and Tommy and Carolyn Christian; great-grandchildren Vincent Christian, Julia Grace Christian, and three on the way (two to be born in February and one due in June); numerous nieces and nephews who he adored and loved; and his loving pet “dawg,” Sparky. There will be a Rosary recited on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 7:00PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:00AM also at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Lancaster officiating. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Harding, Lee Harding, JD Harding, Richard Harding Jr., Joey Duran, Thomas Christian Jr., Thomas Schultz and Jake Schultz. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
