Herbert George Barela

HERBERT GEORGE BARELA, 66, of Estancia, New Mexico passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Herbert was born March 3, 1947 in Tajique, NM to Emilio and Frances (Sanchez) Barela. Herbert was a lifetime resident of Estancia and a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Herbert had a love of classic cars. He was a member of the NM Music Association, the NM Hispanic Entertainers Association, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Latin Recording Academy. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Alfredo Juan Miranda. He is survived by his brothers Raymond Barela and his wife Sarah of Moriarty and Joe Barela of Estancia; sisters Emily Griego of Espanola, Terry Candelaria of Moriarty, Ann Payton and her husband Doug of Albuquerque; Cindy Barela of Estancia, Betty Sullivan and her husband Dwight of San Antonio, TX, and Eva Miranda of Estancia; his favorite niece and recording partner, Stefani Sullivan; and numerous other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. There will be a Rosary recited on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 7:00pm at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Estancia, NM. The Mass of Resurrection will be on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11:00am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Jose Lucero and Deacon Juan Lucero officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Valdez, Evan Miranda, Emilio Lovato, Jaylen Zavala, Dwight Sullivan Jr., Ronnie Sullivan, Gabriel Zavala and Corey Plant. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Payton, Dwight Sullivan, Ruben Miranda, Debbie Candelaria, Ileah Zavala, Chloe, Alexis, Veronica, Andrew Sullivan, Rian Plant and Heaven Lee Montano. Burial will be at the Estancia Catholic Cemetery in Estancia, NM.
