Erinea "Grandma Nea" Gonzales

Erinea “Grandma Nea” Gonzales, 102, of Moriarty passed away July 3, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Erinea was born to Bruno and Eloisa Lovato on August 15, 1910 in Los Diegos, New Mexico. She married Justo Gonzales on February 15, 1926 in Villanueva, New Mexico. This union brought forth thirteen children, 60 grandchildren, 129 great grandchildren and 47 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her children: daughter-in-law, Marie Gonzales of Los Lunas, daughter-in-law, Delfinia ‘Della’ Gonzales of Moriarty; daughter, Vera Jacobs of Albuquerque; daughter, Maryann Armijo of Wagon Wheel; son, Manuel Gonzales and wife, Dorothy; daughter of Albuquerque, Fidelia and husband Severiano ‘Kard’ Sisneros of Moriarty; son, Fred Gonzales of Albuquerque; son, Adam Gonzales and friend Roberta Marez of Albuquerque; daughter, Sadie Tavenner of Albuquerque; daughter, Lorraine and husband, Gilbert ‘Gabby’ Parraz of Moriarty; daughter, Dollie and husband, Adan Encinias of Moriarty; daughter, Martha and husband, Charles Tenorio of Moriarty; and daughters-in-law, Debbie and Ramona of Albuquerque; and many many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grand-children. She is also survived by one brother: Jose Lovato of Pueblo, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She has joined in heaven her parents, husband, sons: Vidal, Bennie and Teofilo; daughter-in-law, Mary Gonzales; sons-in-law: Ford Jacobs, Herman Armijo, and Garth Tavenner; grandchildren: Bobby Gonzales, Jerry Gonzales, Garth Tavenner Jr., Quentin Tavenner, Cynthia Gonzales and grand daughter-in-law, Cynthia Tavenner; and great-grand children: Michael and Anthony Tavenner and Uriah Montoya. She was an amazing savvy business woman who managed her own restaurants and service stations throughout the years; a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church; and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Ladies Society. Nea will be remembered as a strong, humble, a devout Christian woman, who honored, who served, and who praised her Lord and Savior, “su Senor”, Jesus Christ with the highest reverence. She will be remembered as a loving and devout wife, an exceptional and caring mother and grandmother; as a special and extraordinary mother-in-law who loved totally and unconditionally; as an adored aunt and Prima; as a good neighbor; and as a valued friend. She will be remembered for her stories of old; her simple, yet full life; her devoted love to her parents and her beloved in-laws, and as the best of cooks. (Her meals were freshly made and most of the times from scratch.) Her specialties included hamburgers, french toast, delicious pinto beans, red pod chili with pulled beef, fresh tortillas, spring wild spinach with minced onions, garlic and red pequin peppers (kelites), summer squash (calabacitas), verdulagas, little fruit pies (pastelitos) and her sweet rice. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbors and all those whose lives she touched. She was remembered at a rosary on July 7, 2013. The mass of the resurrection was celebrated by Father Robert Lancaster on July 8, 2013 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church; and was laid to rest along side her husband of 53 years at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty. The pallbearers were Michael Tavenner, Freddy Gonzales, Charles Jacobs, Steve Gonzales, Gilbert Parraz, Jr., Severiano ‘Kard’ Sisneros Jr., Charles Armijo and Cris Encinias. Honorary pallbearers were Bennie Gonzales Jr., Manuel Gonzales Jr., Charles Tenorio Jr., Severiano Sisneros III and Dominique Gonzales.
