ALVIE JOE MCKIBBEN, 42, of Claunch, New Mexico passed away March 15, 2013. He was born July 27th, 1970 in Ruidoso, New Mexico, the son of John McKibben and Benolyn Brunson McKibben. Alvie attended Corona Schools and graduated from Corona High School in 1988. He furthered his education in Las Cruces with vocational training as a welder. Alvie founded McKibben Trailer Sales and Welding in Clovis, New Mexico and later Horse Bit Welding in Grants, New Mexico. He came home to help manage the family ranch in 2005. Alvie loved the outdoors, especially hunting coyotes and snakes, and trapping. Alvie married Sandra Rae Proctor on October 27, 2012. They lived and worked on the family ranch at Claunch. He is survived by wife, Sandra and daughter, Kayla of the home, son; Sheldon McKibben of Whitesboro, Texas; his parents John and Benolyn McKibben of Claunch; brother, Mozaun McKibben of Whitesboro, Texas; sister Lynette McKibben Straley of Madill, Oklahoma; nephew Price McKibben and nieces Kylen Straley and McKenzie Straley, and many friends and neighbors. Alvie was a faithful and loving husband, son, brother and father, a good friend and neighbor and a talented craftsman. He will be greatly missed by his family and community. There will be a viewing from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, New Mexico. Funeral services will be held in the Claunch Community Church, Claunch, New Mexico at 1:00pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013 with Mike Hance, Jerry Cozzen and Wess Wells officiating. Interment at Claunch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John McKibben, Mozaun McKibben, Sheldon McKibben, Bill Wells, Jerry Cozzen, Blain Smith, Lynette Straley and “Billy Bob Shafer”. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his friends and neighbors.
