ANA TAFOYA PERALTA, 86, of Mountainair, New Mexico passed away on March 9, 2013 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ana was born April 14th, 1926 in Elchato, NM to Erineo and Juanita (Jaramillo) Tafoya. Ana was a lifetime resident of Mountainair. She was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair. She was employed with the Torrance County Senior Citizens as a cook at the Mountainair and Manzano centers. Not only was Ana “Annie” Peralta an outstanding mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was also a great community member. One who touched many lives during her time at the Senior Citizen Center. She was recognized for training youth working with people with physical and mental limitations/disabilities and the comfort that she brought to the elderly people she served. Annie was also an avid reader and loved to collect pretty wrapping paper. Ana was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas Peralta, who died in 1992; brothers Alex Tafoya and Isidro Tafoya; sister Carolina Herrera; great-great grandson Traven Meeker; She is survived by her sons Ralph Tafoya and Johnny Peralta of Mountainair, NM; daughters Geri Overall and Toni Tafoya of Albuquerque and Marcella Peralta of Mountainair; sister Lucy Maldonado of Wichita, KS; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing beginning at 5:00PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:00AM at St. Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair, NM with Rev. Fr. Sotero Sena officiating. Pallbearers will be John Peralta Jr. Xavier Peralta, Jozani Peralta, Damien Peralta, Joshua Tafoya and Ablaza Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Overall and Devin Pacheco. Burial will follow at the Mountainair Catholic Cemetery.
