Josephine "Josie" A. Gauna

JOSEPHINE “JOSIE” A. GAUNA, 95, of Moriarty, New Mexico peacefully passed away in Estancia, New Mexico on Monday, January 28, 2013. Josie was born August 31st 1917 in Derramadero, New Mexico to Emiliano and Maria Concepcion (Garcia) Apodaca. Josie was a lifetime resident of Torrance and Guadalupe County. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society. One of her favorite things to do was going to Lions Club bingo. Mrs. Gauna was a very loving person, always offering kind words to those she came in contact with. Josie was preceded in death by her parents Emiliano and Maria Apodaca; husband William Gauna, who died January 26th, 1989; sons William Gauna Jr., Edward A. Gauna, Robert Ted Gauna and Stephen John Gauna; daughter Jeanne Gauna; great-granddaughter Miranda Gauna; several brothers and sisters, to include sister Juanita Duran, sister Agapita Pena, and brother Manuel Apodaca. She is survived by her daughters Susan Gauna of Moriarty, Loyola Gauna, Eileen Gauna, son in law, Eric Schmieder and daughter-in-law Jane Gauna of Albuquerque; brothers Onecimo Apodaca and Abran Apodaca; sisters Stella Anaya and husband, Filandro and Mary Herrera and husband Claude; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 10:00AM to 12:00Noon at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 7:00PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty. The Mass of Resurrection will be on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00AM also at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with Rev. Fr. Robert Lancaster officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
