Rudy Nunez, 64 of Killeen, Texas, went peacefully home to his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2013, while surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Delhi, Co. on August 17, 1948 and grew up in Albuquerque, residing in Moriarty, NM and later moving to Killeen, Texas.
He was the youngest of nine children, born to Cornelio and Delfina Nunez. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He was a fun loving passionate person who was well known wherever he resided and enjoyed life to the fullest. He battled his illness with great strength, courage and with the power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his loving partner of 13 years, Christina Flores, ex wife of 24 years, Helen Apodaca, and their six sons. Chris Nunez and wife Delma, Jason Nunez and Loretta Martinez, Nathan Nunez and wife Angelica, Jonathan Nunez and Melissa Rose from New Mexico, Pancho Flores and wife Cindy and Sergio Flores from Texas, 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Three brothers; Julian Nunez, Henry Nunez and wife Ruth, Felix Nunez and significant other Brenda Smith, all of Albuquerque, a special niece, Patty Gutierrez, numerous other nephews and nieces, extended family and friends.
As an entrepreneur, Rudy was involved in numerous business ventures as well as a therapist while employed by the University of New Mexico.
His legacy will not be one of monetary richness but of a richness that will make you smile in
remembrance of him. 64 short years here don’t come close to quantifying Rudy’s life and the difference
and impact he made in the lives of those who knew him. He lived for his family; his faith blessed him so that we thank our Lord for having shared him with us. He will always be in our minds and hearts.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 19th, 10:00am, at Immaculate Conception Church,
619 Copper Ave., NW, Albuquerque, NM.
