Eva Lee Wood, Age 85, passed away on September 21, 2012 at her home in Moriarty NM. Eva Lee Wood was born on August 27, 1927 in Dawson NM. She was preceded in death by her parents James Robert and Ruth Mae Jones, and her husband Col. John Fry Wood, Jr., and two sons, John Robert and Ronald Dee Wood. Eva is survived by her son Rev. Forrest L Wood and his wife Nancy of Orangefield, TX; her daughter Sandra Brandon and her husband William of Moriarty, NM; a son James D. Wood of Albuquerque NM, and her brother Carl Jones and his wife Judy of Crested Butte, CO. Eva is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Eva was a kind, generous, and caring person who had a vibrant personality. She almost always had a smile on her face, and laughed a lot. She never met a stranger that she didn’t make into a friend. She was known to be a hugger. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved animals of all kinds. She loved to dance, and loved music and instruments, especially the organ and piano. Eva was dubbed as the mother of Rock n Roll by several bands in the local area, which she supported through the years. She also loved to sing. In her free time she enjoyed playing card games and working in her yard. But most of all she loved her family and friends with all her heart, and will be greatly missed. There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 3:00p.m. at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, New Mexico with Pastor Mike Nasci officiating. Burial of cremains will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 9:45a.m.
