Bob Dee Shield

BOB DEE SHIELD, age 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior September 14, 2012. He was born July 19, 1937 in Big Springs, TX. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and June (Richards) Shield; and daughter, Bobbie Deon Greenling. Bob was a longtime rancher in the Estancia Valley, raising Black Angus cattle. He owned and operated Shield Drilling from 1968 – 1992 along with working at the cement plant in Tijeras for 42 years from which he retired in 2007. He was a quiet, humble man who liked to work with his hands, welding and making metal art for family and friends. He along with his wife grew a large garden every year sharing with all they knew. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moriarty where he enjoyed helping wherever needed and greeting on Sunday morning. Bob loved and cared deeply for his family and felt blessed by the Lord for each of them. He was especially adored by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Amelia of the home; sons, Roy Shield and his wife Maria of Estancia, NM; Allen Shield and his wife Nancy of Tyrone, OK, Dan Shield of Estancia, NM and Alan King and his wife Joie of Moriarty, NM; daughters, Sue Berg and her husband, Mike of Fruitland, NM and Judy Salvo and her husband Bobby of Horse Springs, NM; sister, Carol Cook and her husband Lynn of Estancia, NM; sister-in-law Wanda Morris of Estancia, NM; twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; various nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. There will be a viewing at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Moriarty at 11:00am with Pastor Dennis Garcia officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Turner, Jordan Turner, Dominic Salvo, Dylan Salvo, Johnny Salvo, Tommy Shield, Travis Shield, and Elijah King. Honorary Pallbearers will be his granddaughters and their husbands. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to Family Ministries at First Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Moriarty, NM 87035.
