Preston Alfred West

PRESTON ALFRED “P. A.” WEST, 85, of Moriarty, New Mexico passed away at his home on Monday, May 14, 2012. Preston was a longtime resident of Moriarty, NM. Preston was born in Texas in 1926 to Birch and Mecea West. Preston lived and farmed with his family until Preston went to serve in the Army in WWII then met and married his beloved wife Nan September 6th, 1951 in Clovis New Mexico. 1952 their first son Danny was born and their 2nd son Andy was born in 1960. Preston farmed and ranched in Herford, TX until 1963 when they moved to Moriarty, NM. Here Preston received Farmer of the Year in 1997. He farmed and ranched until his death. Preston is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Oliver and Fred West. He is survived by his wife, Nan West of Moriarty, NM; sons, Danny West and his fiancée Kay Bowden of Moriarty, NM and Andy West and his wife Tracey of Moriarty, NM; sisters, Scotter Russell and her husband Jimmy of Spearman, TX and Mattie Jane McBeth and her husband Jeff of WI; four grandchildren, Brent and his wife Koli, Heath and his wife Linlea, Matthew and his wife Rebekah and Kagan; and two great-grandchildren, Kadean and Preston. There will be a viewing on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church of Moriarty with Pastor Tom Schank officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty. Pallbearers will be Brent West, Heath West, Matthew Tanner, Jeff Powers, Robbie West, Jerry Groff and Cody Harrah.
