Mary "Beth" Elizabeth Chavez

MARY ELIZABETH “BETH” CHAVEZ, 56, of Moriarty, New Mexico passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Beth was born May 13, 1955 in Santa Fe, NM to Charles and Beatrice (Sandy) Ortiz. Beth married Manuel Chavez on December 17, 1977 in Moriarty, NM. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Beth worked for Moriarty Schools for twenty-seven years and retired as Business Manager for Estancia Schools. She was a School Board Member, Cheerleader Sponsor, and an AABC Board Member. She was in the National Honor Society, head cheerleader, Demolay Sweetheart and Salutatorian of the graduating Class of 1973. Beth was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Manuel D. Chavez; sons, Michael David Chavez and his wife, Andrea, Greg Alexander and Vanessa, Manuel Chavez and Deanna Sandy, Markes Chavez and Bridget Chavez, and Nick Chavez; former daughter-in-law, Trish; father-in-law, Manuel Chavez; stepmother, Mary Ellen Ortiz; brothers, Mike and David Ortiz; sisters, Peggie Goebel and her husband Bob and Debra Crespin and her husband Paul; and eight grandchildren, Destiny, Kylie, Avery, Tarren, Trajan, Ethan, Noah and Brandy. There will be a Rosary recited on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 7:00PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. The Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be on Monday, February 13, 2012 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Robert Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. Pallbearers will be Paul Crespin, Davy Thompson, Gary Tripp, James Klein, Charles Archibeque and Steve Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Beth’s grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
