William B. Torrez

WILLIAM B. TORREZ, 64, of Mountainair, New Mexico went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. William was born May 28th, 1947 in Mountainair, NM to O. B. and Felma (Barreras) Torrez. William was a US Army Veteran, with honorable discharge, good conduct medal and infantry badge. He was a PFC during the Viet-Nam era. William was a retired teamster driving for Yellow Freight Systems, answering to the handle of “Diamondback” for 25 years. He was given an award for completing two million miles accident free. He recommitted his life to our Lord Jesus Christ on August 21, 2011. William was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair. He married Dolores Chavez on July 31, 2002 in Kansas. William is survived by his wife Dolores Torrez; his four sons, William N. Torrez and his wife, Ida of Willard, NM, Duane E. Torrez of Willard, NM, Brian A. Torrez of Willard, NM, Jason A. Torrez and his wife, Ashley of Mountainair, NM; and thirteen grandchildren, sisters: Frieda Anderson of Memphis, TN, Melva Hudson of Springfield, MO, Jessie Torrez of Albuquerque, NM and Bernice Miller of Amarillo, TX. He also helped raise three step daughters Debbie Avila, Angel Sheppard, Michelle Chavez, and numerous step grand children. There will be a Viewing on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10:30AM at St. Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair, NM. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00AM on Friday, December 23, 2011 at St. Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair, NM with Rev. Fr. Fernando Saenz officiating. Pallbearers will be Willie N. Torrez, Duane E. Torrez, Brian A. Torrez, Jason A. Torrez, Nathaniel Torrez, and Angelo Torrez. Honorary Pallbearers: Santiago Torrez, and Zachary Torrez. Internment will be at 3:00PM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Friday, December 23, 2011.
