EARNEST GLYNN MORRIS, 85, of Edgewood, New Mexico passed away December 20, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Earnest was born February 9, 1926 in Clovis, New Mexico to Thomas and Letha (Steelman) Morris. Earnest had lived in Edgewood, NM for the past eighteen years, having formally lived in Los Alamos, NM. He married Naomi Cavasos on February 9, 1949 in Moriarty, NM. Earnest was an Army WWII Veteran. He was a POW in Germany, earning the Purple Heart. He was an Estancia Volunteer Firefighter when he was a kid. He worked for Los Alamos Federal Fire Department for 25 years and at the Los Alamos Laboratory CMB6 Metalurgy Dept. for 20 years. After retiring he became an accomplished woodworker. Earnest was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Letha Morris; sisters, Goldine Rankin, Ruby Coones, and Alene Entley; brothers, Melvin Lee Morris, and Ray Thomas Morris. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Morris of Edgewood, NM; daughter, Naomi “Diann” Yoder and her husband, Mark of Gallup, NM; and two grandchildren, Staci and her husband Michael Spolar and Steven Yoder. There will be visitation on Monday, December 26, 201l from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10:00AM at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM with Pastor John Nash officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. Pallbearers are Ernie Cavasos, David Cavasos, Steven Yoder, Mark Yoder, Michael Spolar and Bob Shields. Honorary Pallbearers are Staci Spolar, Carl Cavasos, Marvin Cavasos, Chuck Downum, Bob Taylor, B.R. Rector, Horace Crane, and Biana Morga. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Stanley Union Church or to a charity of your choice.
