OBITUARY
Joan Shirley Miceli, 73, of Moriarty, NM passed away at her home Tuesday, October 11, 2011, with her family by her side. Formerly of Ocala, Florida, Joan was born February 25, 1938 in New London, CT and was the daughter of Dillard H. (Doc) and Amelia (Burgess) Cowan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Edward M. Miceli, and two great-grandchildren, Anthony Daniel Master and Toni Earlinda Master. Joan was an avid reader, enjoying her mysteries, and was extremely talented in baking and crocheting. For several years, Joan made baby blankets for several organizations, including the Bethel Community Storehouse and Torrance County Project Office. Until a few weeks before her passing, Joan was still baking cookies and other goodies for her daughter’s co-workers. Joan is survived by two daughters, Cathy Miceli of Vernon, CT and Tracey Master and husband Earl, of Moriarty, one son, Cristian Miceli and wife Andree, of Atlanta, GA, two sisters, Linda DeNoia and husband Joe of Norwich, CT and Nancy Trombley and husband Elmer of Riverview, MI. One brother, Dillard H. (Rusty) Cowan, Jr. and wife Ellen, of Beemer, Nebraska, grandchildren Philip Master, Anthony Master, and wife Maria. Nicole Sedillo, and husband Jordan, Christopher, Great Grand Children; Johnny, Andrea, Iolause, Tatyana, Angelina, Christopher, and Lorelai. There will be no calling hours. Joan will be buried with her husband at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A requiem mass will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 6:30p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 8100 Eubank Boulevard, NE, in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Joan’s name to the Bethal Community Storehouse, P.O. Box 968, Moriarty, NM 87035, so that her legacy of giving will live on.
