Phillip “Pee Wee” Davis was born July 13, 1931 in Mountainair New Mexico to Jack W. and Fern Mullinax Davis. He was the grandson of Tom and Mary Alice Davis who homesteaded on the Mesa in 1915. He graduated from Mountainair High School in 1950. Phillip and his family left Mountainair in 1955, moving to Carlsbad, New Mexico.
He was a talented guitar player joining with his dad, an old time fiddler, playing music throughout the area while he was growing up. He was still active with his music after his retirement in Moriarity playing at church and with other musicians.
He was a propane truck driver in Carlsbad and Lovington, New Mexico most of his working life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Anita Eggleston.
He and his wife, Barbara Davis were married in 1979 and they enjoyed 31 years together. She survives him as well as his children, two daughters, Cathy Zamora and husband, Juan of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Peggy Brooks and husband Troy of Odessa, Texas and one son Randy Davis of Carlsbad, New Mexico; sister, Dorothy Crawford and husband Clarence of Paris, Texas and brother Thomas Davis and wife, Ruth of Greenville, Texas; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
