ELBA “LENORA” POPE, 92, of Estancia, New Mexico peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Lenora was born November 19, 1918 in Forest, New Mexico to John Calvin and Emma (Elliott) McBride. Mrs. Pope had lived in Estancia for the past 15 years having previously lived in Arizona. She married Claude Pope on April 2, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1991. Mrs. Pope was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Estancia, New Mexico. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse; one daughter, Barbara Kay Pope; two brothers, and six sisters. She is survived by her son David Pope of Midland, TX; daughters, Violet Chavez and her husband George of Estancia, NM, Billie Nokes and her husband Bobby of Amarillo, TX, Claudine Pope of Forney, TX, Emma DeRomanis and her husband Terry of New York, Destyni Lovejoy of California and B.J. Bailey and her husband, John of Estancia, NM; twenty-two grandchildren, seventy-six great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church in Estancia, NM at 10:00am with Pastor Clyde Fulfer officiating. Pallbearers will be George Chavez, John Bailey, Seth Chavez, Jessie Stuard, David Pope and Donald Watts. Burial will follow the service at the Estancia Memorial Cemetery in Estancia, NM.
