BRAUDAWAY-Gary Wayne Braudaway, 54, passed away at 6:45 on February 22, at Vista Care Hospice. He was born on June 5, 1956 in Albuquerque, NM, Sandia Base Hospital. He attended Manzano High School and earned a degree at Eastern NM University in Portales, NM. He is survived by his mother, Caroline Braudaway, 2 brothers, Rodger, wife Sandy and nieces, Rachel and Hanna; and Brian, wife Tammi and niece, Emily and an uncle, Gordan Braudaway of Yorktown Heights, New York. Gary managed Tandy Leather stores in Odessa, Texas, Spokane, Washington and Reno, Nevada. His father, David W. Braudaway preceded him in death on 12, 25, 10.
Gary attained the Rank of Eagle Scout in 1974 and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He served as Boy Scout Commissioner for the East Mountain Area and served Scouting in many ways. He was an avid leather worker and taught scented soap making to many Girl Scouts and Brownies. Gary died on the Birthday of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts.
Visitation and viewing will be at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Edgewood, NM from 9:00AM to 9:45AM.on Monday, February 28, 2011. Service will be at 11:00AM with Father Raymond Raney officiating.
Pallbearers: John Baker, Louis Rodeau, Marshal Perkins, Greg Williamson and Gary’s brothers, Rodger and Brian. Honorary pallbearers: Brock Ostrander, Jason Hickey, John Cresap, Scouters of Great Southwest Council, and sisters-in-law, Sandy and Tammi.
