Edmund Jacob Ortega

Edmund Jacob Ortega, born December 28th, 1928, passed away peacefully on Saturday. He is survived by his wife Josephine, his brothers, Louis, Leonard and Byrdell, his four daughters Monica, Regina, Jackie and Francesca, his son, Edmundo and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Nicholas. Eddie, as he was known familiarly, was born in Trinidad, Colorado, lived much of his life in California, and eventually retired to Moriarty, New Mexico. He was not wealthy, but his generosity in all things extended to everyone he knew. There was a twinkle in his eye that hinted at his indomitable spirit and his joy in living. He was a protector, a craftsman and a wit - the first to befriend and the last to judge. Though life was not always kind to him, he was always kind to others. He was a loving husband and father, and for this most of all, he will be missed. There will be a Mass on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 2:00PM at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM with Fr. William Young officiating.
