Wallace "June" Mitchell Jr.

Wallace “June” Mitchell Jr., 85, of Lucy, New Mexico peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, December 20, 2010. June was born on August 4, 1925 in Roswell, New Mexico to Wallace and Alma (Joy) Mitchell Sr. Raised in Roswell, New Mexico, June severed in the Navy during WWII. After being discharged he became a well known horseman. June will be remembered by all that knew him as a cowboy, loving husband, father and mentor. He was a friend to all that knew him, always quick with a good story and a smile. He will be missed! June was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Alma Mitchell; brother, Jack Mitchell; and first wife, Billie Jean Mitchell, who preceded him in death in December of 1992. He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Beth (Giguere) Mitchell of Lucy, NM; son, Wallace Mitchell III and his wife Linda of Ashbury, VA; daughters Ronna Mitchell Howell and her husband Eldon of Richland, GA, and Vickie Mitchell Kreighauser and her husband Ben of Hereford, TX; brother James R. Mitchell of Annapalos, MD; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 1:30PM at Barn Church in Hereford, TX, 3948 FM 1057, Hereford, TX with Wallace Mitchell III officiating. Pallbearers will be Cyle Sharp, Kenny Paul, Ben Krieghauser, Chris Howell, Tommy Hastings, and Eddie Stewart. Internment will follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Hereford, TX.
